Greg Patterson, MD, FACS,
CWS
Greg Patterson is the Medical Director of the Archbold Center for
Wound Management and the John D. Archbold Level II Trauma Center in
Thomasville, Georgia. He is the medical team leader of a
multidisciplinary wound management team that includes physicians,
physician’s assistants, nurses, physical therapists, a diabetes
educator, and nutritionists. Dr. Patterson received his Bachelors of
Science in Biology from Mercer University, Atlanta, Georgia, where
he also preformed graduate studies in Physiology. He received his
Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia, where he
was President of his Medical School Class. Dr. Patterson is an
active general and vascular surgeon specializing in venous surgery
and distal arterial reconstruction, non-invasive vascular
evaluation, nutrition and pressure ulcers. In addition he is the
Medical Director of the Archbold Non-invasive Vascular Laboratory
and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Florida State
University School of Medicine. Dr. Patterson is a member of the
Board of Directors for the Association for the Advancement of Wound
Care. Dr. Patterson is a frequent lecturer and educator on topics
concerning wound management, debridement techniques, vascular
evaluation and nutrition.
Pamela Scarborough, PT, MS, CDE, CWS,
FACCWS
Ms. Scarborough is a physical therapist with over 30 years
experience as a clinician, team leader and professional educator.
Her clinical practice has included the settings of acute and
long-term care, outpatient services, and home health. In addition
to holding a license to practice physical therapy in the state of
Texas, she is board certified as both a diabetes educator (CDE) and
wound specialist (CWS). She is currently the Director of Public
Relations and Education for American Medical Technologies, Inc., a national
company specializing in wound care education, services and products
for the long-term care industry. Ms. Scarborough is a well
known educator and speaker frequently presenting at national
symposiums and conferences. She is highly sought after to provide
continuing education lectures and seminars in the fields of wound
management and diabetes care and complications. Additionally, she
has published numerous articles, monographs and contributed to book
publications on topics related to wound care and diabetes
management. Ms. Scarborough currently serves on the Board of
the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC). In addition, she is on the
speaker’s bureau for several professional organizations and has
served on numerous professional boards and conference planning
committees over her extensive career. Ms. Scarborough currently
lives in The Village of Wimberley located in the Texas Hill Country.
Dot Weir, RN, CWON, CWS,
FACCWS
Dot has been a registered nurse for 32 years, and
has spent 28 of those years dedicated to the practice of ostomy and
wound care. She received her nursing degree from in 1976, and in
1980 received her Enterostomal Therapy (now Wound, Ostomy and
Continence) training from Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, PA.
Dot has maintained her board certification in ostomy and wound care
through the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board
(CWON) since then, and completed her board certification from the
American Academy of Wound Management (CWS) in 2004. Dot has had an
exciting and blessed career allowing her to practice in virtually
all care settings including acute, home, and long-term care. She
also spent 7 years in industry working in medical supply as well as
clinical support for Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceuticals. In 2001 she began
practicing in the outpatient area, and is currently the Director of
Wound Care for Osceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee,
Florida. In addition, she has authored or co-authored multiple
articles and book chapters related to wound management, and is a
frequent speaker on all aspects of wound management at national and
international conferences. She is the co-editor for Today’s Wound
Clinic and is on the planning committees and faculty for the
Symposium on Advanced Wound Care, the Wound Care Congress, and the
Wound Certification Prep Course. She is also on the speaker’s
bureau for several manufacturing organizations. Dot is a member of
the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society, The Florida
Association of Enterostomal Therapists, The American Academy of
Wound Management, The American Professional Wound Care Association,
The Wound Healing Society, and was a founding board member and held
the office of treasurer and President of the Association for the
Advancement of Wound Care.
